Did you know that the Atlantikwall had its origins in Flanders in WW I ?

The first Atlantikwall dates from World War One and was constructed by the German Marinekorps Flandern and admiral von Schröder to protect the harbours from enemy attacks and a possible Allied landing on the occupied coast. Sounds famaliar doesn't it ? Some 43 not always permanent sites have been discovered so far of coastal batteries and AA locations along the occupied Belgian coast. From 3.7 till 38 cm guns.

It did not only have these coastal batteries, but also kilometers of trenches, strongholds, fake batteries, MG nests etc.
